Following are some quick guides for outdoor recreational activities in the St George area. This is a work in progress, and we will be periodically adding new guides and adding more details. They are intentionally brief to allow you quickly see what information we have and what appeals to you.

You may notice that these guides tend to focus on mountain biking. That is because I am a mountain biker at heart. Most of the trails I have ridden in the St George area are dominated by mountain bikers, but I've seen trail runners and hikers at all of these locations. So, if you are a trail runner or a hiker, don't despair at the mountain-biking focus. You'll have a great time running or hiking any of these.

Zion - The third most popular national park in the United States. Zion is a veritable paradise for hikers, photographers, climbers, canyoneers, and nature lovers of all walks.
Church Rocks - An incredible trail for hikers and mountain bikers alike (and even the occasional equestrian). This fun and scenic trail is just one mile away.
Grapevine Trailhead - Multi-use trails with great scenery for both hikers and mountain bikers. Like Church Rocks, it is also very close. It covers a much larger area, so it's great for those that want to cover a larger distance than Church Rocks provides for, while still remaining close to home.
Turtle Wall - Multi-use trails with spectacular scenery. While Turtle Wall is visited primarily by mountain bikers, it is also a lovely place for a hike.
Cove Wash - Multi-use trails with bigger views than any of the preceding multi-use trail systems. Cove Wash covers a very large area and has miles and miles of trail. You can spend a lot of time here if you're an intermediate-to-advanced mountain biker or an endurance trail runner.
Sand Hollow - State park with reservoir, picnic areas, golf course, OHV trails, and more. This park has it all. It is also the venue for the famous Kokopelli Triathlon.
Quail Creek - State park with reservoir, picnic areas and hiking/mountain biking trails. Closer and smaller than it's more famous cousin Sand Hollow.
JEM Trail - An extensive trail system out by Hurricane. Technically multi-use trails, but used almost exclusively by mountain bikers. There are a lot of trails suitable for beginners here.
Secret Sauce - A small system of three beginner multi-use trails.
Gooseberry and Wire Mesas - two expansive and scenic mesas out past Hurricane with a large number of trails, popular with both hikers and mountain bikers.
